Well, last weekend was National Trails Day, so we loaded up on Saturday morning and went to hike along the shores of Lake Texoma. We loaded up 3 hard boiled eggs, 2 pieces of toast, a banana, some Cheerios and raisins, 3 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, some cheese sticks, pretzels and cliff bars and 4 liters of water and hit the road. Kaylee and Michelle ate breakfast in the car. It was a good thing that we took so much food, because we forgot our wallets and could not buy lunch on the way home. We started hiking at 9:30 from Juniper point. We passed lots of beatiful areas and it was mostly shaded. There was also lots of poisin Ivy, but we all came home itch free, although Kaylee and I used several of the poisin ivy wipes at each stop. Kaylee was a big help. She took the picture below and would hold Mom’s hand to help her up the steep parts.
Michelle wanted to carry Keslyn’s kid carrier pack so that I would be free to catch Kaylee in case she wanted to jump off of a cliff or something. Keslyn seemed to really enjoy the ride in the carrier. She really enjoys anything outdoors.
We saw a few trail runners out on the trail. one man passed us several times. He told us that he was preparing for a race next month, but still had time to talk to us each time that he passed. He was running laps on the 2.5 mile section of the trail that we were on (for a round trip of 5 miles). He passed us about 4 times and I am guessing that he was running 15 to 25 miles for the day. After the 3rd time, Kaylee decided that she would be a trail runner also and stopped him the next time that he came by to say that she was going to a race next month also. He said that he “would see her at the starting line”. The pictures below show Kaylee practicing for the race.
We stopped somewhere around 1.5 miles for a break. Keslyn got to get out of the pack and Kaylee got her feet wet and throw rocks in the water.
After we all had a little rest and something to eat, Kaylee and I decided to go look around. I saw a log that was leaning against some other trees at an angle about a foot above the ground.

It looked like there was hair growing on the bottom of the log so we went closer to see what it was.

When we got closer, we found that it was a huge colony of Daddy long leg spiders. They were covering 5 to 6 feet of the underside of the log. They were moved in so close to one another that it was hard to tell them apart. There were thousands of them. Kaylee and I went and got mom and Keslyn to show them the spectacular find and then take some pictures. Kaylee is starting to take some good pictures. After that, we loaded up and hiked back home. Overall, we went close to 3 miles.
Kaylee had 1/2 a peanut butter jelly sandwich and the last hard boiled egg for lunch. Michelle had peanut butter sandwich and pretzels. I ate a sandwich and a warm Dr. Pepper as we drove home. Everyone napped on the way home except for me. Keslyn had already started napping, as you can see.
